No-one has anything against farming. It's solo farming that is the problem.

I agree with Yamat. I signed it, gladly did so.. You know what I thought when I experienced the enemy fleeing from my firestorm? I grinned.. Why did I grin? This is meant to be a tactical game and a tactical game it is.
Observe and adapt, observe and adapt. Repeat.
If the enemy flee from your AoE spells, then hit them with something like water spells! You need to use tactics.. As much as its the farmers complaining, big deal.. this game isn't all about farming..
Did it say "Do you want to farm? We have the game for you!?" on the front of the box.
I think not.
This game was all about teamwork, not soloing.

One more thing:
i see some pro-update players saying "now pve is more strategical, you have to think, enemies dont stay taking a full firestorm on their heads, now is realistic".
But if now everything is so realistic and challenging, why nobody was complaining about the poor monster AI pre-update?
Because it was just a regular pve-AI, like in many other games like diablo 1 and 2, daoc and so on, and nobody wanted it to change.
And now someone seems to feel really pro while commiserating the dumb pve players that cannot figure a new strategy to play their characters.
But we are not dumb. Crippling every single enemy to make him stay in aoe range is not strategical, is boring and annoying. Searching for different builds to make a decent pug is not strategical, is a pain in the back. Playing with henchmen that aggro the whole map to catch fleeing enemies is not strategical, is irritating.
There are tons of way to make pve more interesting and challenging.
Example: create more missions like aurora glade, thk or final assault. Missions that require a bit of planning and teamwork. What's the point making every single enemy act like a retard chicken?
This patch is just a stupid farm nerf. Nothing to do with regular pve, but they cannot say it.

Maybe you should use the search. People were complaining about the AI (henchmen or monsters or both) all the time. I know I have.

I know the predictably easy AI was a reason I stopped PvE'ing. I actually had fun PvE'ing with my Fire Ele today in Sorrow's Furnace. The fleeing enemies gave me a reason to position myself strategically (I'll admit I was over-using AoE attacks just to make things interesting).

Umm the patch sucked. It sucked ass. It RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing sucked ass. Happy? Im sry if monsters fleeing from 1 dmg a sec is annoying to me but not to you. Now almost all Aoe's have been nerfed great. I mean its so much fun in UW yay. If I ever wanted this type of chaos I would have done PvP against some rank 7000+ guild that had absolutely no coordination of any kind. Its so great how stupid the ai is now. 1 dmg a sec OMFG RUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Deep Freeze + Meteor Shower.
Now, that works on human players mighty fine, especialyl if you and one other ele coorindtae.. so what happens if you do it to montesters eh?
/grin im singing this. and before i get flamed, yes i have a W/Mo Griffin Farmer/Sorrows Smiting Tank, so yes, i got hit as well.
Do i care?
Nope!
GO AREANET!

Deep freeze+ meteor shower is 50 energy and by that time they have all moved away. metoer shower is a 5 sec cast. by the time its done they will have already gone. And it only works on the dumbes players alive.

Elemental Attunement does wonders for energy costs. Or Glyph of Energy. Or just don't care because after you kill monsters in PvE you have all day to wait around and recharge (most of the time, anyway)
Oh, and maybe you didn't notice, but the AoE's center is determined when the casting COMPLETES, not when it starts. So the cast time is completely irrelevant to monsters getting out of the way.

So get another ele (or ele secondary) to cast Deep Freeze. It's not a difficult concept. Even better, have one of the oh-so many W/Mo's to bring Hamstring. And a ranger to bring Pin Down. And a mesmer to bring Ethereal Burden. Get the picture? SNARES FINALLY HAVE A USE! THEY NEVER HAD A USE BEFORE IN PVE! But the forums never erupted into a huge controversy over that, because it was the norm back then to never use snares.

Except for the fact when mobs run, it glitches something horrible, or they come back later, or this happens, or that happens due to the fact that this "New AI" is somehow "Smarter"?
Please. Spare me.
It executes it poorly, but in essence is a good idea.

I know that but its 50 energy+exhaustion and there were better ways to use it. Also how bout the fact that I don't really want to split into 2 skill lines. Yes but they will be running like mad after deep freeze. Seriously it has just happened when I tried to do a mission today.

I'm sorry that chasing after monsters in PvE does not sound or even seem remotely like a great idea. If I wanted to chase things with My warriors I would PvP!
